DESCRIPTION:

Join Earth Celebrations' annual ECOLOGICAL CITY - An ecological art and climate solutions action project engaging the Lower East Side community through creative collaborative arts strategies, co-creating a theatrical pageant to celebrate and bring together climate solutions and ecological sustainability initiatives throughout the gardens, neighborhood and waterfront, and their contribution to city and global climate challenges.

ECOLOGICAL CITY PAGEANT, on Saturday May 9, 2020, is a climate action, ecological urban pilgrimage and performance art event featuring a spectacular 7 hour procession of visual art, giant puppets and costumes with 20 site performances of dance, music, theater and poetry celebrating sustainability solutions throughout the community gardens, neighborhood and East River Park waterfront on the Lower East Side of New York City.

Earth Celebrations is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering ecological awareness through the arts. Since 1991 Earth Celebrations has been collaborating with Lower East Side gardeners to preserve their magnificent network of over 50 community gardens through innovative and creative projects. Earth Celebrations programs include:theatrical pageants, artist residencies, art exhibitions, video programs,web-site, and educational art & ecology workshops for youth and adults, through various neighborhood schools, community, centers, and gardens.
