We are building a team of exhibit-specific guides who will help us provide patrons with a deeper understanding of the works of art. We are using the "docent" model that many museums adopt and adding that SECCA touch. The word "docent" is derived from the Latin docere "to teach." We want the art to be a catalyst for conversation and strong visitor participation. Your willingness to volunteer as facilitators of this program will ensure its success.
Prior knowledge of contemporary art is not necessary; only an open mind, flexibility, interest, enthusiasm, and time are required. The exhibitions at SECCA last only a few months and each one is unique. Guides will be trained specifically for each exhibition.
