Spend the evening in Redmond's wild backyard!

Volunteer to help the forest stay healthy and green by joining in a restoration project, and while you're at it, explore one of the City's most beautiful natural gems. Nearly 800 acres (605 football fields!) of big trees, native understory plants, and tons of wildlife, this is a great place to get outside and see what nature has to offer.

Forest Steward and naturalist Mike will be your guide to this awesome oasis and can answer your questions and point out secret special places along the trail.

Join us to keep this beautiful forest thriving!

Time: Saturday, May 26th 9am to Noon

Address: Watershed Preserve, 21760 Novelty Hill Road, 98053

Where to park: There is a parking lot just inside the park entrance

Where to meet: Meet near the shed (where the bathrooms are) next to the parking lot

What to bring: a water bottle, a snack if you want one, and tough clothes, and shoes that can get dirty (because they will!), including long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect against prickly blackberry. Closed-toed shoes are required: work boots, hiking boots, or running shoes are all fine. Remember to check the weather and bring appropriate layers and rain gear or sun protection as needed.

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
