Volunteering at Osteoporosis Canada (OC) is an opportunity to participate in a vibrant organization supporting an increasingly widespread population of people living with osteoporosis. We have many chapters across the country and a passionate consumer/patient voice which keeps us well grounded in our mission.
Call for Nominations
In accordance with the Osteoporosis Canada’s Bylaws, the Board Development Committee is responsible for recommending Directors for consideration by the Board of Osteoporosis for a term of three years. There are a number of factors that are taken into consideration to ensure that geography and targeted expertise and experiences are considered with filling Board vacancies. Osteoporosis Canada values diversity.
The Committee is pleased to call for applications from interested candidates from across Canada to the Board of Directors of Osteoporosis Canada for the three-year term beginning on September 15, 2018.
Formal interviews will occur in the month of April. Applicants who have been interviewed but not selected may be considered for other volunteer opportunities within Osteoporosis Canada, such as participation on committees of the Board.
The OC board holds three board of director meetings every year. There are two in person meetings every year usually in Toronto, and one teleconference meeting. Travel is required to Toronto for the in-person meetings
The Board Development Committee of the board is seeking directors to fill several vacancies that will be occurring this year. The applicants should have shown leadership at the local or national level, have demonstrated excellence in their own field of expertise, and be willing to help to govern Osteoporosis Canada with care and vision.
After evaluating the strengths of the existing Board of Directors, the Board Development Committee is seeking applicants with the following skills but not limited to:
- Previous Governance Board Experience
- Expertise in Accounting
- Expertise as an osteoporosis clinician /researcher
- Legal expertise
- Bilingual would be an asset
In addition to the specific expertise described above, the following criteria should be considered when submitting your application:
- Full agreement with Osteoporosis Canada’s Vision, Mission, and Values
- The ability to think 'big picture’ and long-term
- A desire to learn and grow
- Prepared to make a substantial contribution in time and energy
- A willingness to support the fundraising activities of the Board
