The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. Summary: Our Construction Crew Leaders are integral to our goals of building more homes and better neighborhoods throughout Ontario County. Crew leaders are skilled volunteers who not only put their prior experiences to good use on the work site, but also assist construction staff in leading and supervising the other volunteers to perform specific construction tasks. Crew leaders demonstrate tasks, maintain standards, monitor safety and ensure that the other volunteers are fully engaged.
Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the volunteer team in order to meet pre-set goals
Collaborate with construction staff to identify skilled/enthusiastic volunteers
Assist with hands-on construction tasks
Help check that the work of the volunteers is up to standards outlined by the construction manager
Assist in the loading and unloading of building materials and tools
Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
Safety is the first and foremost priority for Crew Leaders (training provided)
Help create an enjoyable construction day for the volunteers
Give instructions to group for construction tasks, safety and cleanup
Refer to Construction Manager for questions and material needs
Empower and motivate volunteers with meaningful work
Communicate praise and appreciation for job well done

All volunteers are required to sign a Release and Waiver of Liability annually. This should be done before any volunteer work begins. Copies of this form can be found either in the office or with the Construction Manager.
