The Friends of Raymond, in partnership with the Civil War Trust, will hold their annual Park Day on Saturday, April 7th at the Raymond Military Park located off Highway 18 just west of Raymond High School. Rain date will be April 14th. Park Day is an opportunity for volunteers to help clean-up, provide grounds maintenance, paint cannons, clean signs and help with other chores for the preservation of this historic 1863 battlefield. The Raymond Military Park, while valuable as an historic site, also provides the community with a walking trail that is used by many local citizens.
Volunteers are needed beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Workers will be provided with lunch and a Park Day T-shirt provided by the Civil War Trust. A local historian will also be available to describe the park’s significance. Interested volunteers are encouraged to contact Pam Howorth at (601)373-3166 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to sign up to help on Park Day.

The Civil War Trust has sponsored Park Days since 1996 and in 2016 had over 6,000 volunteers at 130 historic sites around the United States. Park Day provides local historic organizations the opportunity to complete needed maintenance and repair on their grounds. But a successful Park Day depends on volunteers! Please donate a few hours of your time to help maintain this lovely historic site.
