The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs Center for Financial Empowerment (CFE) works to build economic stability and household wealth for low to moderate income County residents. The CFE is looking for volunteers willing to give back to their community by providing financial education.
If you don't have financial education experience, no problem! The CFE will provide training on the financial education curriculum.
Volunteer Opportunities May Include
Providing financial education presentations at different locations covering topics such as savings, budgeting, credit, banking, paying bills, dealing with debt, identity theft, and other consumer related issues to audiences varying from youth (ages 14-24) to low-income County residents.
Assisting in the development and implementation of financial education and literacy programs
Requirements
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from other cultural backgrounds
Be energetic and maintain a positive attitude
Public speaking and financial education experience preferable but not required
Bilingual preferred but not required

Description
The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs counsels, investigates and mediates consumer complaints resulting from transactions in the marketplace. It also conducts special investigations and makes referrals to law enforcement or regulatory agencies when appropriate.
