Volunteers with musical affinities or abilities are needed for our North Phoenix patients. These patients have dementia and benefit so much from music being played for them. Instruments that are acceptable include: piano, guitar, wind instruments (Sax, flute etc), singing, etc. any instrument that is easily brought to and from patients. We have pianos in some homes that are available to be played, or we have a small portable piano that we can bring for you.
Patients preferences are typically music from their era (40s-70s) however sometimes calm songs of today they will also enjoy.
Each visit for music is typically 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the volunteer's schedule and how well the patients are doing.
