Mission Statement
To restore the Quinnipiac River and its watershed for the health and enjoyment of the citizens and communities along its reach, and to educate students, families, individuals, businesses and governments to be informed stewards of the river.
Description
Since 1979, the Quinnipiac River Watershed Association (QRWA) has successfully educated and worked with thousands of residents and businesses throughout the Quinnipiac River Basin. We run programs and events in environmental education, outreach, advocacy, river monitoring, conservation, restoration, recreation and public access. We have created and published water trail guides and informational pamphlets, we provide "hands on" environmental education and recreational programs for elementary and high school students in the watershed and participate at school fairs, celebrations and festivals to connect youths and their families to the river. We enhance the public’s river experience by further developing water and riverside trails and establishing better access to the river and its ecosystem. We have established annual get on the water events, the Quinnipiac Downriver/Classic Canoe and Kayak Race; the Source to Sound Cleanup, seasonal hikes and guided canoe and kayak trips.
