Housing Works is powered by a vibrant community of volunteers who lend their time, dedication, and passion to many different roles within our non-profit organization.
By volunteering, you are directly responsible for providing funding to and advocating for New Yorkers affected by homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Design on a Dime 2018! Each year, DOD depends on the hard work of hundreds of volunteers. You can volunteer to help in many ways, including event setup, sales and breakdown. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to get involved with Housing Works, as well as groups looking to volunteer! Opportunities are available throughout the last week of April, with shifts in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Please email volunteer@housingworks.org for a complete schedule.
All participating volunteers will receive a brand new Design on a Dime 2018 t-shirt along with a 25% discount card to be used during our Public Sale Days or at one of our Thrift Shops (valid for 30 days).
We currently need LOADS of help on our opening night, April 26th, from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm! It will be am exciting evening involving great design, great ideas, and even better people.

Housing Works is powered by a vibrant community of volunteers who lend their time, dedication, and passion to many different roles within our social enterprise department, Bookstore Cafe, and Thrift Shops.
Individuals and groups of volunteers assist our organization greatly, by coming together to better the communities that they live and work in. Housing Works is pleased to partner with corporations, universities, and community based groups, in the creation and implementation of volunteer projects that benefit homeless men and women living with HIV & AIDS. We are one of New York City’s largest and most successful support services for those in these under served communities, and becoming a part of the Housing Work’s family is an exciting way for companies to give back.
Each project challenges volunteers to develop new skills and engage new people, contributing to a greater sense of camaraderie. We welcome the opportunity to work with corporations to find volunteer opportunities that meet their needs and priorities. Volunteering with Housing Works is a great way for companies to engage employees while demonstrating their commitment to the fight against homelessness and AIDS, and the improvement of the lives of all at-risk New Yorkers.
