One of our most invaluable resources is our volunteer program. Many of our volunteers were previously involved with hospice as family members.

How does a volunteer support hospice?

Providing respite to family
Socialization: reading, playing cards, sewing, simply being a friendly visitor to a patient
Office and administrative support
Offering their unique talents in any way toward supporting patients, families, and the community at-large
Compassionate Care Hospice’s volunteer programs are supervised by a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator, who will provide orientation to hospice, Compassionate Care and some of the healthcare regulations that are important to be aware of.

PATIENT CARE VOLUNTEER
The Patient Care Volunteer provides patient care and support services that enhance the quality of life for patients and their families, such as grocery shopping, providing companionship, or prepare a snack as required.

PET THERAPY VOLUNTEER
The Pet Therapy Volunteer provides support services in compliance with hospice policies. The Pet-Therapy Certified pet is utilized therapeutically to implement the hospice plan of care, providing tactile stimulation, aid in relaxation, companionship, and other quality of life benefits to patients.

CREATE-YOUR-OWN
Are you licensed in the field of your expertise? The opportunities to volunteer are as numerous as the individual needs of each of our patients and their families. Contact our closest program office to volunteer your professional skills and share how you envision donating your time and talents to our grateful patients and families.

Mission Statement

To affirm life during its final stages by providing holistic compassionate care to patients and their families; by providing access to hospice care for underserved or difficult to serve populations; by wise and efficient use of available resources, and by educating the community.

Description

Founded in 1993, Compassionate Care Hospice is a community-based organization committed to providing the highest quality hospice car to patients, their families and close friends throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, South Dakota, and Texas.

We care for terminally ill patients with a wide range of illnesses including cancer, advanced cardiac disorders, advanced neurological disorders, AIDS, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Multiple Sclerosis and any end stage disease.

Care is delivered by a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, home health aides, bereavement coordinator, pastoral counselor and volunteers. Under the direction of the patient's physician and our hospice medical director, the team follows a personalized plan of physical, emotional and spiritual care. The plan is continually reviewed and adapted to meet the patient's changing needs.

At Compassionate Care we are committed to quality of life, which enables patients to remain in the comfort and privacy of their own homes, with their loved ones. We provide the special care and services that make that choice possible.
