April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and we at Survive2Thrive Foundation are partnering with the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) as well as with local breweries and distilleries to launch our 2nd Annual I AM SAAM campaign.

Intoxication ? Consent is the message!

Our organization will be handing out I AM SAAM postcards during the SXSW festival (March 9th - 18th) in order to raise awareness of SAAM - this is where you come in! We need a few volunteers to help hand out these postcards to SXSW participants and patrons. We will have volunteers stationed in key, high traffic areas during the festival for optimum impact and results. This will be a great way to network and educate the everyday citizen about SAAM.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide life-changing resources to these waitlisted survivors and to create a sustainable recovery path to self-sufficiency for all survivors of domestic violence and abuse.

Description

WHAT IS A WAIT LIST? When a victim leaves their violent home, they are often referred to their local emergency shelter. When they arrive, they are asked to complete an intake process to determine if they are a potential candidate for shelter and supporting services. If there is no immediate space available, the survivor's information may be placed on a wait list, so they can be contacted in the case that space opens up and they and their children can come back and stay. Some shelters required survivors to call back on a DAILY basis to see if there is room available.
