About

Loneliness increases the risk of heart disease by 29% and the risk of a stroke by 32%. Lonely elders are twice as likely to have dementia as those who don’t report being lonely. Loneliness and social isolation can be as harmful to our health as obesity and smoking. Help mitigate that loneliness by becoming a Pet Friendly Visitor with your dog! Provide connection and therapeutic healing to our more isolated seniors. Our Pet Friendly Visitor program matches volunteers with older adults who are interested in having a weekly visitor who brings their dog. Dogs need to be calm and friendly and not jump up on people. Activities can include talking over tea or coffee or going on walks together while playing with the dog.
