Did you know that in the heart of the industrial setting of Tukwila lies a cultural landscape significant in Puget Sound Salish traditional stories?! And that this place is open and free to the public to explore? The Duwamish Hill Preserve encompasses a beautiful area, but it needs your help to stay that way. Join the Friends of the Hill at our monthly work party to help contribute to the restoration of this area. All ages and abilities are welcome and no experience is necessary!
What to bring: Come dressed for the weather (rain or shine) in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (rubber boots, hiking/tennis shoes), long sleeves, long pants, warm layers and bring a rain jacket. We’ll have tools and gloves for you to use! Help reduce waste by bringing your own refillable water bottle if you have one.

Mission Statement
Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.
Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
