We are people with and without disabilities sharing a life in community of faith. Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of our life together. We seek to build a world that recognizes the unique value of every person and our need for one another.
We have 2 houses at Emmaus Home: true homes where lives are shared. We live, laugh, cry, and pray together>Chores are shared: grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, mowing the lawn... and so is the fun: birthday celebrations, gatherings with friends and family, vacations...
Unlike traditional group homes, with shifts of employees coming and going, in each of our homes you'll find "core people" (people with disabilities who are in the core of our community) and assistants who live with them.
Not all of our assistants live "in", some live "out".
Our assistants initially commit to come and stay for a year or two, some stay many years.
From right out of college to post retirement, Emmaus Home welcomes assistants from the US, and abroad to join our community and live their faith.

Mission Statement
Emmaus Home is a nonprofit 501c3 community. Our mission is to reach out to men and women with intellectual disabilities. Skilled volunteers work and live in communion with the men and women and strive to develop a strong family of faith-filled relationships. The men and women are valued for their personhood and inherent dignity. Through acts of love and daily sacrifice the Emmaus Home community hopes to be a people of service that shine with the Light of Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Our Savior and Our King... Emmaus Home, A Place of Faith, Hope, and Dignity...
Description
The purpose of Emmaus Home is to provide an alternative living experience for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By offering a family-like environment. Adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities feel loved and spiritually safe enough to explore their own gifts, personality, and possibilities. Our model of mission-oriented team living in community with our Adults offers a growth opportunity for both as they learn from each other how to become more human. By including local faith and community involvement and activities, our members are not only exposed to more people and experiences, but our local community is becoming friends with our members who for too long were hidden in large institutions or in their own homes.
