ORGANIZATION: GOLD STAR RIDE FOUNDATION

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
Riding for Gold Star Families
.

Once a year, we go for a Ride. We honor our nation's fallen heroes by taking care of their families on this Ride.

We Ride for two months, rain or shine, and travel about 25,000 miles. We stop in every state that's not Hawaii (sorry Hawaii). And we visit, in person, families that have membership in the "ultimate sacrifice" list.

We need volunteers, because ours is an entirely volunteer organization, to make phone calls and arrange our stops along the way. We need gas stations, restaurants, and hotels. We also need to communicate with radio stations, television stations, and newspapers. We also need to communicate with social media outlets, and other Internet based news outlets along the way.

We need people who are comfortable forging their own way. This has not been done like this before, so you will not be calling on businesses that did it last year.

You need to be a little computer/Internet savvy as well, since you'll have to go online to find the places where we will stop. We only know the towns along the way. We need help finding the exact spots.

You can do this work from anywhere in the country, but you need to have a phone and access to the Internet and email.

Mission Statement

The Gold Star Ride Foundation will actively support, comfort and provide education benefits to Gold Star Families throughout the United States and will provide these things directly with personal visits via motorcycle; and we will support those other organizations that work to assist in these same activities.

Description

We pay honor and tribute to families left behind when a person dies in the military. We do this with an in person visit, and we come on motorcycles. Usually the numbers are between 75 and 175 bikes. We also offer education benefits to the surviving family members.

We make deliveries and visits on a single motorcycle ride covering the entire country (sorry, Hawaii) during July and August.
