Interim Housing has proven to be a very successful program to keep clients in a stable situation while the organization helps them transition to long-term stable housing. This building, located in Oak Park, IL, can hold up to 60 clients for an interim period of 90 days, and we rely on volunteers to provide meals for clients and assist the 24/7 on-site staff during specific time periods.
We are currently providing meals in a Grab-N-Go style to remain COVID-compliant. For this role, volunteers are needed to purchase or prepare food for dinner. Food items must be individually wrapped, but do not need to be 'bagged'. Food will be laid out for clients to select. Clients have access to microwaves and refrigeration. Drop off for meals should be before 4:00 PM, and will be served the same night.
Please include a well balanced meal. We recommended items that include:
- Protein
- Starch
- Vegetable
- Grain
- Chips
- Juice, milk, sports drinks, water
We need up to 40 dinners, daily. Please go to www.housingforward.org/get-involved to register!

Mission Statement
Housing Forward's mission is to transition people from housing crisis to housing stability.
Description
Since 1992, we have transformed the lives of more than 11,000 people by helping them meet their immediate housing and crisis needs, addressing their health and income needs and transitioning them back to housing stability. Today, we’re having long-term impact on the communities of west suburban Cook County by 1.) preventing the loss of housing before it occurs, 2.) alleviating the need for long-term shelter, 3.) moving people into sustainable permanent housing solutions and 4.) improving housing retention.
