Housing Forward

We have new opportunities in our Interim Housing Program! Located in Oak Park, IL, our new facility will house up to 90 clients. We are excited about this new venture that will continue our mission to transition people from housing crisis to housing stability. We need volunteers who share this same passion and enthusiasm to help our clients as they make this transition.

We are providing Grab-N-Go meals to clients in our interim shelter location. Volunteers are needed to purchase food for Dinner. Food items must be individually wrapped, but does not need to be a 'bagged' complete meal. Food will be laid out for clients to select. Clients do have access to a microwave. Drop off meals should be no later than 4pm.

Please include a well balanced meal. We recommended items that include:

  • Protein
  • Starch
  • Vegetable
  • Grain
  • Chips
  • Juice, milk, sports drinks, water
  • No pork products

Please indicate on the sign up how many meals you are able to provide by updating the 'Number of Volunteers". Each volunteer represents 40 meals. For meal providers, the number of volunteers is not the number of people who are helping to prepare the meals, but an indication of how many meals will be provided. For example, if you (or your group) can provide 40 meals, then Number of Volunteers = 1

We need up to 40 dinners, daily.

Mission Statement

Housing Forward's mission is to transition people from housing crisis to housing stability.

Description

Since 1992, we have transformed the lives of more than 11,000 people by helping them meet their immediate housing and crisis needs, addressing their health and income needs and transitioning them back to housing stability. Today, we’re having long-term impact on the communities of west suburban Cook County by 1.) preventing the loss of housing before it occurs, 2.) alleviating the need for long-term shelter, 3.) moving people into sustainable permanent housing solutions and 4.) improving housing retention.
