Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc.

He/She shall perform all duties customary to that position. He/She shall render to the Executive Board monthly at their regular meetings a detailed account of finances and transactions of the financial conditions of the Corporation. He/She shall have custody of and be responsible for all funds and securities of the Corporation. He/She shall keep full and accurate account of receipts and disbursements of the Corporation. He/She shall deposit or cause to be deposited all monies or their valuable effects in the name of the Corporation in such depositories as shall be selected by the Executive Board. He/She shall disburse the funds of the Corporation, as may be ordered by the President or the Executive Board, taking proper vouchers for such disbursements, and shall render to the Executive Board at its regular meetings or when the Executive Board requires, an account of all the transactions as Treasurer and of the financial condition of the Corporation. In addition the Treasurer shall be responsible for the necessary annual filing with the Internal Revenue Service to maintain 501 (c) (3) status. The Treasurer shall present the books for audit and at such times as required by the State of New Jersey.

In the case of an untimely removal from office for whatever reason, all books, papers, vouchers, money and other property or whatever kind in his/her possession or under his/her control belonging to the Corporation shall be returned during an exit interview with a minimum of two (2) Executive Board members present for inventory/audit purposes. The Treasurer shall prepare a quarterly Financial Statement Report to be provided to the Puerto Rican Community of the City of Newark, New Jersey. The Financial Statement Report will be posted on the Corporation’s website and posted via social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc) in the months of March, June September and December each year.

The Treasurer should not have a criminal record, pending legal case or been dismissed from his/her employment in the past ten years for unethical reasons. He/She will provide at least two professional related references. The Treasurer should have a college degree related to Accounting/Business or five years’ experience in a finance related field. He/She should have knowledge of tax related laws, IRS laws and filing 990 forms.

Our mission is to instill a sense of pride and self-worth in our Puerto Rican community through the exhibition of art, music, literature, education, and civic engagement. We honor the Puerto Rican heritage by declaring every year the third Sunday of September as Puerto Rican Day in the City of Newark. We will host a parade on this day to demonstrate our pride and appreciation for our Puerto Rican heritage.
