ORGANIZATION: Sisu Youth Services

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 43 people are interested

Our core volunteer team is responsible for caring for the youth at Sisu alongside our staff.

Volunteers are trained and vetted to work directly with the youth in our emergency shelter as well as youth who are utilizing our drop-in center. These volunteers will help check the youth in and complete any paperwork needed, help youth shop our clothing & resource closet, serve dinner, assist with laundry & chores.

Working hands-on with the youth provides volunteers the opportunity to share their skills, knowledge, stories, and hearts. Youth crave connection and research proves that one caring adult can make an incredible difference in the life of a teen. Sisu is proud to offer our youth a diverse volunteer base so they are able to relate to, and see themselves in, a successful adult.

Volunteers wishing to work in the shelter with youth must be at least 25 years old, attend our 1.5-hour orientation and training, and complete a criminal background check.

About Sisu Youth Services

Mission Statement

To ensure that young people experiencing adversity have a safe place to sleep, the security to dream and the support to make a positive impact on the world. Supporting youth in crisis as they pave their road ahead. Together, we are Sisu.

Sisu Youth was created around the belief that the OKC metro community can and will find a way to ensure that its most vulnerable youth are cared for and protected to the very best of its ability. In the last several years, through volunteerism and small donations from hundreds of Oklahoma City residents this grand community experiment has been brought to life, ensuring that all of us, in at least some small way, are helping to support our city’s endangered youth.
