Globe Talk 2017

Globe Talk, a 501c3 nonprofit striving to promote respect for diversity and cultural appreciation, is recruiting. Across the globe, rampant xenophobia, polarization and media bias threaten our individual ability to empathize and our common humanity, perpetuating an "othering" of different cultures. Given this climate, Globe Talk's role in fostering connections between youth of varying backgrounds, nationalities, and ideologies is increasingly important.

Our team is searching for an individual to work with our developer team and Technology Specialist to design an interactive, multi-layered online portal that will be used internationally by high school students in our current Spain and New York chapters, and future generations of Globe Talk participants.

Specifically, in the coming months we are developing our service learning program, which, at large, aims to foster cross-cultural collaboration between high school students from different parts of the world to engage in service and help those in need in their own communities and abroad.

The Take Action: Issue-Based Program, the first of three we aim to establish, seeks to connect chapters from two countries with a nonprofit organization tackling a specific social issue (e.g. malnutrition, health, youth empowerment, education, poverty alleviation, global water crisis, environmental sustainability)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
You will work with our Technology Specialist, who will provide rough mockups of the different pages nonprofits and students will interact with, and design the exact mockups our developers will create in our portal site.

About Globe Talk Inc.

Location:

89 Fruitledge Road, Glen Head, NY 11545, US

Mission Statement

To provide high school students with empowering community service opportunities that fit their interests and desired areas for growth, so they can make a tangible impact in areas they care about in their own communities and beyond

Description

Our Vision: Globe Talk is a 501c3 nonprofit that seeks to unlock the potential of the next generation to affect change. We envision a world in which kids who don't have the right connections, whose parents don't have the time and resources to advocate for them, flourish partaking in empowering volunteer opportunities - so instead of stamping files, students can be equipped with the tools and knowledge to make a difference locally, and, one day, globally.
