Volunteer Social Media and Content Coordinator

Are you passionate about supporting individuals building startups in San Diego and have significant experience with social media or content creation? We want someone like you to join our nonprofit’s marketing team. This role is responsible for the main functions of social media marketing, including:

• Assisting in managing the social media calendar within specific social channels
• Generating frequent and compelling content such as copy, images and video to share across our social channels
• Scheduling and posting on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn on a weekly basis following best practices
• Utilizing social media to build and engage with our community of students, entrepreneurs, businesses and sponsors

This is an unpaid, volunteer position reporting to the Executive Director and marketing team.. The time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours a month for 6-12 months. Startup San Diego is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that represents the interests of entrepreneurs, celebrates successes, and fosters a cohesive and collaborative community.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of experience in social media marketing and content creation
• Commit to 2-5 hours a week to help run and guide our social media calendar
• Natural marketer with a deep understanding of social media and fan communities
• Self-starter, able to work both with and without direction
• Ability to take direction and contribute to team goals
