Volunteers come once a week. The current openings are:
Mondays, 6:00-7:30 pm. Basic Writing for Intermediate ESL
Help students write sentences and paragraphs using correct grammar. You would also help students correct each other's work, lead small group discussions, give them a hand with homework, and/or review past lessons with those who missed class. Class is held in a computer lab. Students often need help with basic computer skills.
Thursdays, 7:30-9:00 pm. Listening & Speaking
The focus of this class is on pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Your job could include leading small group discussion, helping to a few students keep up with the lesson, and helping students prepare presentations.
Classes are taught by a licensed teacher. Volunteer training is provided. It is not necessary to speak another language, or to have experience tutoring.
If you like meeting new people, helping them advance their skills, and contributing to the community, let's get acquainted!
