Enjoy knitting and want to help families in your community de-stress? Volunteer to lead a knitting group for families living at Valley Oak Homes! The volunteer will work with a group of affordable housing residents at various levels to teach them to knit and to facilitate a positive experience of togetherness and shared learning.

The volunteer would need to be able and willing to work with individuals of all levels of knitting ability, including those who have never knitted before, those who learned how to knit in the past and are looking to refresh their skills, and those who are experienced knitters. Additionally, the volunteer should be patient and willing to work with those of differing physical abilities (such as individuals with arthritis or limited hand mobility) and those who speak limited English.

If you're looking to make a difference in your community, this is a wonderful opportunity to gain teaching experience with students who are eager to learn.

Requirements: Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement.
