ORGANIZATION: San Francisco Aid for Animals

If you have ever lost a pet I am sure you remember how horrible it is. San Francisco Aid for Animals receives donations from friends, family and veterinary hospitals after a pet has died to honor that beloved pet. As an acknowledgment of the pain and donation, we send sympathy cards to the owners. We need help writing these condolence cards on a weekly basis. The volunteer must be compassionate, dependable, trustworthy and ideally in the San Francisco area.

Mission Statement

San Francisco Aid for Animals is a charitable fund dedicated to keeping companion animals and their families together. Grants provided through local veterinarians help pet guardians with financial hardship deal with urgent, treatable conditions to prevent needless suffering, euthanasia or surrender of their animal companions.

Description

The seven
Objectives of the SFAfA are to:


  1. Reduce
    the risk for the surrender of pets with treatable problems

  2. Prevent
    unnecessary euthanasia of owned pets with a favorable prognosis

  3. Subsidize
    the cost of quality veterinary care for clients demonstrating financial need

  4. Keep
    companion animals with their caregivers and support the human animal bond

  5. Assist
    a population of pet owners that do not receive support from other agencies

  6. Maintain
    and promote continuity of care in the client, patient, veterinarian
    relationship

  7. Improve
    the quality of life for pets and their families

SFAfA will provide grants for veterinarians to distribute to those with financial hardship to achieve the above goals.
