ORGANIZATION: Growing Up Guide Pup

This position will entail prepping a 14 week old puppy for mobility service dog work. The puppy is named Arthur and he is a Standard Poodle of Royal German Line. He is brown with a white blaze on his chest.

This volunteer opportunity will require basic obedience training as well as teaching the puppy to potty on command. It will also require teaching the puppy proper etiquette out in public, and desensitization to all distractions in public that a puppy needs to learn to become accustomed to service dog life. This includes going to restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters, amusements parks, traveling on mass transit and the pup will begin training to getting desensitized wearing the mobility harness.

Our service dog affiliate will cover all expenses including food, toys, medical expenses, and gear.

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to Provide Service Dog Education to Help People with Disabilities Live More Independent and Fulfilling Lives. Tax ID #47-2288228

Description

Service dogs do amazing things to improve the lives of the persons they are assisting. In recent years, the numbers of people using service dogs and the number of services that dogs provide has rapidly expanded. The likelihood of coming in contact with a working service dog team is growing, yet the general public has little appreciation of these wonderful animals, their jobs, or how to interact with the people who use them. Moreover, the demand for an increased number of service dogs trained to help people with disabilities grows. Consequently we have made it our mission is to aid this challenge. We also aim to provide a higher level of understanding about service dog law, service dog etiquette, and service dog puppy raising to help the service dog industry reach a higher level of consciousness.
