Volunteering with Kona Historical Society is a great opportunity to let a few hours of your time turn into a history of new experiences to share with others!

Our community of volunteers is dynamic. We love all of our volunteers, each of whom make a wide range of projects happen. This includes tackling small construction projects, tending to garden areas, doing administrative tasks, assisting with educational programs or exhibits, and helping at events. Our volunteers bring enthusiasm, curiosity, and tremendous dedication and pride to their work. Our volunteers also provide our organization with fresh perspectives and invaluable assistance. Everyone is welcome to apply. However, volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone and have written consent from their parents or legal guardian.

The Kona Coffee Living History Farm is a "must see" Hawaii attraction and the only living history coffee farm in the nation. Patrons are invited to stroll through this award-winning, historic farm that tells the story of Kona’s coffee pioneers during the early 20th century. Guests are free to walk among the coffee trees on this self-guided experience, meet a "Kona Nightingale", or watch how farmers used the kuriba and hoshidana to mill and dry their world-famous coffee. Visit the original 1920’s farmhouse where you may find the homemaker starting the fire to cook rice or making musubi for the farmer’s lunch.

Living history gives visitors an opportunity to experience history "brought to life" by costumed interpretive staff who demonstrate traditional crafts, agricultural activities, and the everyday tasks of people from the past.

Volunteers provide much needed support to this program in a variety of ways. We invite volunteers to participate in volunteer projects throughout the year, but if you would like to volunteer in a limited capacity, we would be more than happy to create a schedule that will work for you.
