Car City Carnival is RAIHN’s major fundraiser and will be held April 28th to 29th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Penfield. Participants will raise a registration fee plus pledges to benefit RAIHN. The evening program will include an interactive poverty simulation in which participants will explore the barriers and journeys of families experiencing homelessness. There will also be a dinner, carnival, and an overnight lock-in, where kids will have the opportunity to spend the night in their cars or in the church gym.
Sleeping in cars is an actual reality for many families in Rochester, and Car City gives the community an opportunity to learn about family homelessness in a meaningful, hands-on way. Last year’s Car City raised $18,950. Thanks to generous donors like you, RAIHN was able to provide shelter, meals, counseling, support, and assistance in securing safe, affordable housing for many of those families living in poverty.
The need for emergency shelter for families with children in Rochester continues to be critical. Since 2004, the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN) has addressed this need by serving 423 families, including 772 children. RAIHN provides 14 beds for homeless families in a cost-efficient way, with 42 member congregations utilizing over 1,700 trained volunteers.
Please consider joining us for Car City Carnival 2018 in order to raise both public awareness to the issue of homelessness and much-needed funds for RAIHN’s continued operation. Families with kids and youth groups can sign up as a team and raise funds together. For more information, visit the Car City 2018 website and sign up!

Mission Statement
Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN) is a not-for-profit, interfaith, culturally-competent organization that assists homeless families to achieve sustainable independence by supporting them with tailored services including shelter, food, personalized case management, and a diverse network of caring volunteers.
Description
RAIHN provides families with the support they need to secure safe, stable housing. RAIHN provides 14 beds for homeless families in a cost-efficient way due to in-kind meals and housing provided by our faith communities. Families spend their evenings at our congregations enjoying meals and activities with our volunteers, and have access to case management, laundry and computer facilities, and other resources at our Day Center during the day.
RAIHN is one of the few programs that keeps families together during their entire period of temporary displacement, and also offers after care services once a family has graduated from the program.
RAIHN works hard to keep families together and get them home...for good.
