The youth job training assistant will assist the class instructor with job training for 16- to 24-year-old refugee and Special Immigrant Visa clients who have resettled to the Central Valley. For six successive Saturdays, the IRC will help provide attendees with important skills and tools to succeed in the workplace. This volunteer will also help participants find jobs.
Time Commitment:Six successive weeks (Either March 17-April 21 2018, or March 24-April 28 2018)
Responsibilities:- Help with set-up and clean-up of classroom
- Practice mock interviews with students
- Teach students how to use a cash register
- Possibly teach a module of the course, depending upon volunteer interest
Candidates should have a passion for coming alongside students who are eager to learn job skills.The volunteer will receive traning prior to the start of the program, however ideal candidates will already have expertise with resume writing and employment interviews, as well as a general knowledge of job search websites.

Our offices ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and we work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency through English language classes, job readiness training and civics services. This year, the IRC in Turlock will resettle refugees from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Syria among other countries.
