The East Bay SPCA is committed to the welfare of cats and dogs in the communities we serve. We strive to eliminate animal cruelty, neglect and overpopulation by providing programs and education that support people and companion animals. Collectively, we are a team of passionate, committed staff and volunteers who work together every day to save the lives of animals in the East Bay.

Purpose:
Assist with the essential everyday fix-it tasks to keep shelter operations running smoothly and safely, and improve the ultimate well-being of all the animals in our care.

Key Duties Include:
Changing out lights.
Troubleshooting minor electrical issues.
Troubleshooting minor plumbing issues.
Exterior and interior painting.
Exterior construction and repair of window and/or door frames.
Miscellaneous shelter repairs.

Training and Shifts:
One-on-one training with staff during first shift.
Flexible shift times are available Monday-Friday preferred, weekend shifts available after training.

Requirements:
Commit to volunteering 4 hours per month (or more if you'd like!).
Basic understanding and working knowledge of one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and/or light carpentry work.

Description

The East Bay SPCA has been an innovator in animal welfare for over 149 years providing shelter, health care, and adoption services for unwanted animals since 1874. We are committed to finding homes for adoptable cats and dogs, providing affordable veterinary and spay/neuter services, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership. We are the oldest animal welfare organization in the East Bay and operate two animal shelters and three clinics, serving Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
