Pitch in and pick up at this year’s Potomac River Watershed Cleanup!
Volunteers are needed to help remove trash and debris from the Potomac River shoreline. This is a great opportunity for families, service-learning students, as well as Boy/Girl Scout and other groups. Trash bags and gloves will be provided; please wear sturdy water-resistant shoes and clothing appropriate for slippery and wet conditions. All volunteers should check in at the Visitor Center before being directed to a cleanup spot on-site.
Please Note: Clean-up site is located at the National Colonial Farm, 3400 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek, MD. There are several clean-up locations on Bryan Point Road, please make sure you report to the above address.
Contact Casey Harlow for more information on group registration at volunteers@accokeek.org.

Mission Statement
According to the Foundation's 1957 charter, "It shall be the purpose of this Corporation to preserve, protect and foster, for scientific, educational or charitable use and study for the benefit of the people of the nation, the historical sites and relics, trees, plants, and wildlife rapidly disappearing from an area of great natural beauty along the Maryland shore of the historic Potomac River."
Description
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park. Situated directly across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, this land was protected to preserve historic views and now serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs about land conservation, historic preservation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Entertaining tours and performances, customized experience based activities, and service learning opportunities help visitors connect to the land and to one another.
