When you and your team volunteer with Mill City Grows, you’ll have the chance to give back to the community first hand, while getting to know your team in an active and rejuvenating setting. Allow your group to stretch their legs and connect over a cause.
Join us in growing our city’s access to healthy and affordable produce, and show the world you dig Lowell!
- Build comradery among your team
- Get a breath of fresh air and reconnect with the environment
- Learn about food, food systems, and sustainable practices in farming
- Contribute to increasing food access in Lowell, as well as encouraging economic stability and a healthier community
Your group will participate in activities from seeding and transplanting crop, to cultivating soil, to harvesting produce, as well as engaging in farm maintenance tasks. Farm work is physically demanding, and expect to get dirty!
Team Building Volunteer Days are on Fridays from 1-4pm at our Big Farm in Pawtucketville. Contact us for location details.

Mill City Grows is growing a healthier community by creating new opportunities for residents of Lowell, MA to access healthy, fresh, affordable foods. Our mission is to foster food justice by improving physical health, economic independence and environmental sustainability through increased access to land, locally grown food and education.
Description
Come Grow With US! Mill City Grows currently operates 3 Urban Food Production sites where we grow and harvest organic produce. Our produce is distributed throughout Lowell through our Mobile Farmer's Market and has ten stops throughout the city. We also operate 8 community gardens, 14 school gardens, and provide educational programming where we strive to engage and educate our community members on food production and food justice. Through our programming we hope to:
- Facilitate the creation and management of urban production sites in Lowell;
- Engage community members in food production via community garden membership, educational workshops and seasonal events;
- Create communities dedicated to and benefiting from the sharing of resources and knowledge;
- Develop markets as access points for consumers and distribution points for producers.
