ORGANIZATION: Asana Hospice

  • 1 person is interested

Our volunteers are dedicated individuals who have been vetted and trained by Asana Hospice. They are available to provide different types of support to patients and their loved ones including running errands, preparing light meals, staying with a patient to give family members a break, and lending emotional support and companionship to patients and family members. Because hospice volunteers spend time in patients’ and families’ homes, an application, background check, TB & drug screen, and interview process is necessary to assure the person is right for this type of volunteer work. Volunteers also must complete a training class. Areas covered by this training program includes understanding hospice, confidentiality, working with families, listening skills, signs and symptoms of approaching death, loss and grief and bereavement support.

Mission Statement

It is the Mission of Asana Hospice to guide our patients and families during periods of terminal illness, to provide medical and emotional comfort, and to inspire meaningful moments and lasting memories.

Description

The word "Asana" is defined as a yoga position that is designed to help master the body and spirit and enhance the body’s function.

The Asana Hospice team addresses the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual concerns that often arise when someone is facing life-limiting issues. We focus on each individual patient, not the disease. Our holistic approach is centered on life and living, ensuring that you and your family receive the care, comfort and attention you deserve.

By making Asana Hospice your hospice care partner, we can collaborate with you to provide higher quality end-of-life care while offering you and your family inspiration, guidance and comfort.
