Why is this class in Spanish?
If people meet certain age and residency requirements and do not want to take the civics test in English, they are eligible for an English Language Exemption and can take the civics test in their native language.
Out Spanish Citizenship Class is held once a week, and lessons and teaching materials are provided. Topics covered:
- Overview of the U.S. Naturalization Process,
- Studying and practicing the 100 questions that could be asked during the citizenship interview (U.S. History and Civics)
- Practicing through mock interviews to familiarize people with the types of questions they could be asked in their Naturalization interview.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week. Class is 1.5 hours, plus prep time.

Description
Public libraries in California seek to engage the talents, skills and commitment of volunteers to serve the communities' information and literacy needs. Libraries offer a variety of skilled volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful contribution to library programs, operations, fundraising events and other community engagement functions. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to lead projects, work with teams of staff and volunteers, learn new skills, and have fun.
