Interlocal seeks board members for its board of directors.

Interlocal is an international and civic enrichment program for high school students from Richland County. The program employs place-based educational philosophy, utilizing the local community and nearby cities to connect student learning to their surroundings. Rather than learn about topics such as international trade, immigration and foreign affairs inside the confines of a classroom, Interlocal facilitates experiential site visits, bringing students to a variety of business and organizations to promote an understanding and awareness of how global issues impact the local environment as well as nearby areas.

Through these visits, it is Interlocal’s intention to instill in students a sense of collective pride and ownership both of Richland County and their home state of Ohio while simultaneously exposing them to new ideas with an international focus. It is this combination of community pride and international awareness that will make for a robust understanding of modern citizenship.

The program culminates with an international experience, provided by a third-party student travel organization, for eligible students. It is Interlocal’s hope to provide a full scholarship to all participants desiring an international experience regardless of the amount awarded by the travel organization.
