Elfreth's Alley

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, The Elfreth's Alley Association is hosting a Volunteer Information Session for prospective volunteers from 9 am till noon in the Museum Garden at 124/126 Elfreth's Alley. We will be opening for the Spring Season beginning the weekend of Friday April 6th, Saturday April 7th and Sunday April 8th.

There will be current volunteers in attendence to answer questions. Additionally we will briefly discuss the 300 years of the Alley and in honor of St. Patrick's Day we will have some light refreshments and discussion of the Irish immigrants who lived on the Alley and some of the places near the Alley with Irish American significance

Please come and join us to learn more about volunteer opportunities on our Nation's oldest continuosly inhabited street. There are a variety of different ways to help, from giving weekend tours of the Street, to answering questions from visitors from all over the world in our Museum House as well as helping with First Friday programming, Special events as well as more behind the scenes options in gardening and our archives.

Mission Statement

The Elfreth's Alley Association (EAA) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to preserving the Elfreth's Alley National Historic Landmark District as a historic site of national significance and interpreting the Alley as a working class neighborhood that has been continuously inhabited for the last 300 years.

Description

The Elfreth's Alley is a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational organization that uses the Alley as a lens to interpret the lives, lifestyles, and livelihoods of ordinary Philadelphians from the time of the City's founding through to the present day. The Association preserves the Elfreth's Alley National Historic Landmark District as a rare example of a once commonplace working class community from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
