Front Desk Receptionist

HOURS:
2 days a week (Mon-Fri, flexible which days)
from 9:00am-2:00pm

The receptionist is responsible for providing the first line of Welcome House screening by answering incoming calls, directing those calls to the appropriate staff person, greeting and attending to walk-in clients and other guests. The receptionist assists other staff and volunteers in the front lobby and assists clients and all visitors in an effective, efficient, professional and respectful manner. This position is responsible for connecting clients with the appropriate staff person or resources, providing excellent customer service, and appropriately directing inquiries in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner. Receptionist will process incoming and outgoing agency mail, maintain the reception and waiting area, and operate basic office technology including a computer, printer, and telephone. Also included are clerical administrative tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
1-2 years' experience

Ability to problem solve and think critically
Ability to engage appropriately with clients and be an active listener
Demonstrate attention to detail skills
Ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to manage conflict
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to multitask
Proficient in Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for a long period of time
Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time
Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person
Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move between 3 floors
Additional mental requirements: compare, decide, direct, problem solve, analyze, instruct, interpret
Minimum lifting up to and above 50 pounds

Description

Welcome House works with individuals currently experiencing homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless through a variety of services in an effort to help these families attain self-sufficiency. To accomplish this we have several programs ranging from Emergency Assistance, which gives food, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies to families and individuals in need,to our Emergency Shelter, an Employment Team, Housing Team, Case Management Support, Social Security Opportunitites, and a Payee Program. Through case work, outreach, advocacy, and a continued interest in meeting the varied needs of the at-risk population we are working to make the community a better place for all.
