Casey's Circle needs special needs parents (mom or dad). We have some ideas of the topics that matter most to families of children with special needs, but we need volunteer parents to be our eyes and ears.
We realize that it can be hard to commit to going to a location at a given time and date when you have a child with special needs at home. This volunteer role is totally flexible and can be done from home. The time donated is totally up to you.
What we need is for parents to tell us about topics that they (or other parents they know) would like to know more about. Ideally, the volunteers may have some ideas on local experts on the topic that they could suggest. Or even better, if they know the local expert that can reach out and "introduce" us (set up a call, start an email communication, etc). The topics can be ANYTHING related to raising a child with special needs. The topics can be medical in nature, financial, emotional, legal, education based, anything at all as long as it relates to the special needs community.
These topics will then become our Tuesday Talks. We have temporarily cut these back from monthly to every other month, but if we are able to find a few volunteers that can help us identify topics and potentially help with coordinating presenters as well we hope to get these back to monthly, or possibly even twice a month.
We would love if this volunteer is able to attend the Tuesday Talks that he/she helps to coordinate, but again, we understand that that is not always possible. If they are able to attend however, dinner and child care are provided and the volunteer is welcome to bring their child if needed.
