Microwavable heating pack

What a wonderful way to warm a patient’s heart, and body, with the gift of a microwavable heating pack. Many hospice patients are bedbound and get cold hands and feet. These microwave packs are simple and cheap to make but are invaluable at providing much needed warmth. Heat packs are known by different names like: stress busters, bed buddies, rice magic bags or corn cozies-but they’re basically all the same thing. They can be made with a tube sock, leg warmer or a sewn material bag and filled with uncooked rice, wheat, feed corn, buckwheat hulls, barley, oatmeal, beans, or flax seed. For an added touch you can also add spices, herbs or essential oils (lavender, ground cloves, nutmeg, ginger, rosemary, cinnamon, peppermint oil, crushed mint). Once you fill tube sock or leg warmer with your chosen ingredient tie the end(s) shut and you’re done.

If you have any questions about this project please feel free to contact Mary Carpenter at 509-755-4956. These treasured items can be delivered to 1230 Northwood Center, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.

Thank you for your support!!!
