Activity mat

Help provide comfort for a Dementia or Alzheimer's patient by creating an activity blanket.

An activity blanket is a lap sized colorful blanket/mat that keeps a patient’s hands busy and occupies their mind. This distraction helps reduce potential agitation for Dementia or Alzheimer’s patients. The quilt kept this person busy for quite a while "fidgeting" with all the interesting objects in her lap (these objects are attached to the blanket). It is similar to a toddler’s activity quilt but an adult version with keys, wine corks, zippers, different materials with different textures such as fake fur, corduroy, suede or lambskin, yarn, ribbons, buttons, zippers, pockets, attached bean bag, buckles, beads, laces, key rings and various household items. These items give different textures and tactile stimulation when touched.

If interested please contact Mary Carpenter at 509-755-4956.

Donated items can be delivered to
