Komen Orange County is the OC affiliate of Susan G. Komen, a national breast cancer organization. Each year we coordinate the OC Race for the Cure in September which takes place at Fashion Island, Newport Beach. This event funds local breast health programs and national breast cancer research. The Race occurs on the eve of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) and many outreach and smaller fundraising activities take place during that period.
We are seeking a volunteer, preferably with some connection (past or present) to the police force or fire department to assist Orange County police and fire personnel to become involved with Komen OC, with our Race event or during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Examples of what we are working toward are departments forming Race teams, and participating in our event, departments offering some sort of family oriented activity at our Race festival area, facilitating a Police Pink Patch program to raise funds and awareness and the sale of Pink Fire Department t-shirts also to raise funds and awareness.
This opportunity would be perfect for a retired police officer or firefighter who would enjoy connecting both with a breast cancer organization and OC police and fire departments. We would like to have a volunteer come to our office at least once a week to utilize our phones and computers and to be able to work closely with our staff to maximize police and fire department engagement with us in 2018.
If this sounds like the perfect volunteer opportunity for you, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Ph: 714-957-9157 Ext 31.
I hope to hear from you soon.
