About

Become a weekday volunteer tour guide at Historic Yates Mill County Park and help school aged children learn about Yates Mill through the History Detective Tour! This fun, 1-hour tour uses artifacts to help children solve history mysteries, answer questions about the mill, and discover how people in our community lived over 100 years ago. The History Detective Tour is offered on weekdays and serves kids from local schools and home school groups.

Our tour program could not function without our volunteers who provide more than 2,000 hours of service and who lead hundreds of tours every year! We do everything in our power to make this a fun opportunity for learning and community engagement. New volunteers receive thorough training and enjoy workshops and field trips, and park staff is also on hand to work one-on-one with volunteers so that everyone feels confident and has a good time. All you have to bring is your enthusiasm and desire to broaden kids’ horizons.
