Volunteers Needed for Small Community Horse Show

The Northwest Jersey Horse Show is seeking volunteers for the 2018 show season. Volunteers should be 16 years of age or older and do not need to have previous experience volunteering in the horse show setting, however experience around horses is helpful and strongly encouraged. Tasks that volunteers would typically help with include the following:
- Directing cars and horse trailers to the appropriate parking areas
- Setting up and collecting signage before and after the event
- Helping to set up hospitality/continental breakfast and lunch
- Set up and breakdown of the arena (hanging signs, setting up jumps/games, etc)
Volunteers with horse or prior horse show experience may be able to help with the following:
- Ribbon running
- Gate tending
- Ring steward
- Taking entries

Mission Statement
The mission of the Northwest Jersey Horse Show is to preserve and enrich the equine/agricultural heritage of Sussex County, New Jersey and the surrounding area; to provide exposure to and education in equine care and management, as well as competitive endeavors; to foster youth development through learning opportunities including promotion of the equine industry in and around Sussex County; and to hold events featuring those concepts, the proceeds from which will be used to help fund this mission and/or local charities. We also support the restoration efforts of Lusscroft Farm in Wantage, NJ, the location at which we hold our events. We do this in cooperation with the Heritage and Agriculture Association, Inc. and in partnership with the NJ DEP/Division of Parks and Forestry.
Description
The Northwest Jersey Horse Show is a non-profit organization made up of a group of individuals with many years of experience organizing and running horse shows. We run an annual series of 4 shows as well as an annual fundraiser and year end awards ceremony. Our series is tailored to the beginner-intermediate rider of all ages and is designed to educate and encourage our exhibitors throughout the show experience.
Our shows are affordable and family friendly and we pride ourselves with creating a fun, low pressure show experience. We hold our events at Lusscroft Farm in Wantage, NJ, a historic property owned by the State of NJ and exists as part of the High Point State Parks System. We donate 30% of all of our profits back to the Heritage and Agriculture Association, who works to restore the farm.
