If we end up with more than necessary, we will be sending you to walk through the event and promote.

Anyone is welcome to come check us out for the first time without any paperwork, so simply pick a date/time that works best for you and I can go ahead and reserve it for you!

However, If you'd like to become a regular volunteer, we ask that you sign up as a volunteer here: Traveling Stories Volunteer Application.
Stop by the kids corner within the ArtWalk & read to children in the ArtWalk - Traveling Stories StoryTent! Artwalk is the largest outdoor arts festival in Southern California, and we expect to read to hundreds of kids! We'll have a comfortable, book-filled oasis where kids can read out loud to volunteers and earn prizes. Located at Little Italy, so please be prepared for street or garage parking - we highly recommend taking public transportation or carpooling.

The StoryTent will be held on Date Street between Date and Union. A map will be provided one month before the event. We are hosting a StoryTent/info table in the Kidwalk section of ArtWalk.

Once you fill that out, you'll receive an email asking you to undergo a background check. Those under 18 years of age do not require a background check. I can also waive this requirement if you send me a copy of a background check you've completed within the last year (such as through your employer). If you're a student, educator, military, senior, or you've volunteered with us once before, simply send me a copy of the appropriate ID and I'll send you a link with Traveling Stories paying half the cost of your background check. Thank you in advance for understanding that background checks are necessary to keep the children we serve, our volunteers, and our staff safe. The safety of our loved ones is our highest priority. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns, we can't wait to read to kids with you!
