Students at Biltmore Prep are competing in a girls-only tech entrepreneurship program. They learn how to solve a problem in their community by learning basic code and how to start a business.
Students are provided with online curriculum, tutorials, and a student workbook. This is a global competition and finalists teams win a paid trip to San Francisco for a week-long tech conference. They will also get to pitch their idea in front of tech companies.
The girls meet:
Wednesdays 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm
Fridays - 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm
You do not have to attend both sessions but will need to volunteer once a week.
Mentors
You DO NOT need technical or business experience to be a mentor. Our best mentors are passionate about getting girls involved in STEM and are willing to learn on the go. We have a great online mentor community of 5,000 mentors and FREE online mentorship training created by STEM and business professionals.
This is a skill-based volunteer opportunity where mentors learn and develop many skills including:

Girls are ready to change the world. Technovation makes sure they have the tools they need
Over the last 15 years, we’ve trained 150,000 young women to be technology entrepreneurs & innovators, empowering them to solve problems in their communities using technology.
5+ years after participating in Technovation programs, alumnae still credit the program with influencing their interests, career, and professional pursuits.
76% of Technovation alumnae pursue a STEM degree compared to 21% of female undergraduates who received STEM related degrees in 2012.
60% of Technovation alumnae work in STEM-related positions, compared to the national average in 2013.
