Interested in giving back to the community, specifically in an avenue that empowers refugee and immigrants as they strive to attain self sufficiency in America? If so, the RISE Saturday Academy is looking for volunteers!
As part of the "Cultivating Our Futures" Education Initiative, RISE has started the Saturday Academy to assist both refugee youth and adults. The Saturday Academy seeks to provide students with a safe space to play and be creative, as well as to be an education resource for those who need assisted homework help and Regents test preparation.
Families from a variety of nationalities bring their children to the Saturday Academy, and many adults stay to obtain targeted job assistance as well as to expand their vocabularies and to prepare for citizenship exams.
Meeting Saturdays from 11:00AM-2:00 PM, we are looking for volunteers with Math, Science, History, and Writing skills to work with refugee and immigrant youth enrolled in the Syracuse City School District.
If you have an ambition and will to put your skills and talents towards helping refugees and immigrants in your community, contact us today!
