Interested in helping recently arrived refugees and immigrants acquire the language skills necessary to emerge empowered and self-sufficient? Have a passion in U.S. history and government, and a desire to share your interest with those who require assistance in preparing for the citizenship exam? We have the opportunities for you!

As part of the "Cultivating Our Futures" Education Initiative, RISE offers adult refugees and immigrants the opportunity to obtain a hands on education centered around English language acquisition or preparation for the citizenship exam. Our classrooms welcome students from a variety of nationalities and with different native language abilities, and we strive to ensure that a positive, open, and safe environment is fostered in our classrooms to allow the students to uninhibitedly ask questions and further their understanding of the English language and American culture.

Join us during any of our classes offered Monday-Friday, from 9:30-11:30 AM or Monday-Thursday from 12:30-2:30 PM. No experience is necessary; just a wish to empower your fellow community members!

The RISE Center is located in downtown Syracuse, just a few minutes walk from Syracuse, SUNY Upstate Medical, SUNY Oswego-Metro Campus and SUNY-ESF Universities.

If you see yourself aligned with our mission and have a willingness to use your skills toward uplifting the refugee and immigrant population in Syracuse, please contact us to find out how you can involved today!
