Interested in being a mentor and inspiration to the youth of tomorrow's multicultural Syracuse? We are looking for volunteers who are willing to work with refugee & immigrant youth entering the 1st-6th grades enrolled in the Syracuse City School District.
As part of our "Cultivating Our Futures" Education Initiative, RISE hosts a Summer Youth Program that creates a safe space for academic enrichment, skill-building, hands-on activities, social and emotional learning, and active, constructive play. The program looks not only to offer 1-on-1 assistance that reinforce math and literacy skills, but we also seek to incorporate fun activities that boost self-confidence, instill a sense of civic-engagement, and foster a love for learning.
Running two times a week from July-August (Tuesday & Thursday, 2:00-5:00 pm) , we offer flexible hours and dates and welcome any volunteers during any time of the year as long as they bring a willing and positive attitude! All we ask is that volunteers dedicate themselves to consistently attending at least one Summer Youth session per week.
We are centrally located in downtown Syracuse, just a few minutes walk from Syracuse, SUNY Upstate Medical, SUNY Oswego Metro Campus, and SUNY-ESF Universities. If you see yourself aligned with our mission and are interested in building skills to uplift refugee and immigrant youth in Syracuse, contact us today!
