We are looking for committed volunteers for our school programs! This spring we have two school programs volunteers can help support us with.
Our Citizen Science program emphasizes the role of citizen scientists and the importance of advocating for our waterways. Citizen Science program volunteers will become familiar with water quality testing parameters, protocols and help lead groups of students through different tests.
Our service-learning program introduces students to the Gowanus Canal, its polluted history and the steps to making a healthier ecosystem through stewardship. Service Learning program volunteers will engage students in stewardship activities - such as gardening, caring for street trees, and propagating plants in our native plant nursery.
This is perfect for volunteers that are interested or have prior experience in education.
No prior knowledge on topics or activities are needed. Programs are reserved are for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Based on their availability and interest volunteers can help with one program or both. Volunteers must be able to commit to regularly volunteering throughout the spring season- April till June.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in one or both school programs.
