Go off trail with San Diego Canyonlands and the Chaparral Lands Conservancy for an event in a rugged, often unseen section of the park.
Come and enjoy the beautiful vistas and inviting shade of old-growth Torrey pines in this special invasive grass removal event. San Diego Canyonlands, in cooperation with the Chaparral Lands Conservancy, will guide volunteers on a more rugged but rewarding hike to an off-trail ridge where native plants are in need of some love. Help remove invasive purple veldt grass (Ehrharta calycina) to give our natives a fighting chance.
Community service hours documentation provided to those who need it. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a youth waiver to participate in our events. This waiver can be found by clicking here. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and a hat and bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Tools and gloves provided. NO BATHROOMS ON SITE.
For questions or more information on either of these events please contact: Sami Collins at sami@sdcanyonlands.org

Mission Statement
San Diego Canyonlands' mission is to promote, protect and restore the natural habitats in San Diego County's canyons and creeks. We do this by fostering education and ongoing community involvement in stewardship and advocacy, and by collaborating with other organizations.
Description
During the monthly events, we would like volunteers to help us remove trash, invasive non-native plants, plant native plants in restoration sites, maintain trails, and do other exciting work to enhance the canyon. Our urban canyons and creeks are critical to the health of the San Diego ecosystems.
