The Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA) is a powerful voice for leaders of volunteers across the area. MAVA provides a variety of tools to professionals who work in the volunteer engagement field. One of those tools is professional development trainings, which are planned and coordinated by the Professional Development Committee. The committee is looking for one or two new members to join an already strong crew of professionals. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in Adobe Connect or other webinar management tools, or someone with experience in coordinating professional development trainings.
Members of the Professional Development committee:
Help guide professional development activities that MAVA offers year-round.
Expectations of members of the Professional Development Committee:
- Attend monthly meeting (3 rd Tuesday 12:30 to 2).
- Participation in discussions around professional development offerings for our members. Sharing own opinions, experiences, and knowledge with committee to help guide us in making decisions and plans of execution.
- Facilitate and serve as host to one MAVA Connection Event per year (hosted at MAVA office).
Tasks are assigned to each member of the committee based on the member’s own individual strengths and goals in the area.
Tasks could include:
- Facilitation of discussion groups, workshops, and/or webinars
- Webinar design and presenting, serving as moderator
- So much more!

Our vision is to be the premier statewide organization uniting, educating and advancing Minnesota communities through excellence in leadership of volunteers and best practices in organizational volunteerism.
MAVA's programs include comprehensive best practice training that has reached thousands of leaders, a VISTA AmeriCorps program supporting organizations as they expand their volunteer engagement, the Service Enterprise certification initiative, a rigorous 18-month change management program focused on effective leveraging of volunteer resources to meet mission and research resulting in cutting edge tools and curriculum. MAVA also hosts 2 annual conferences to support professional development for leaders of volunteers, and provide information on new trends and critical issues in the field.
MAVA's community exists in layers, with over 650 members, reflecting human service, education, housing, environment, culturally specific, arts, health care, youth, and elder organizations from every corner of Minnesota. MAVA facilitates the exchange of innovative information and ideas and fosters effective professional development for leaders who engage volunteers.
